UNHRC54 Written Statement: The World Backpedals on Climate Change

SHARE

Harming the health of our planet, climate change brings toxic air pollution, decreased food security, increased risk of infectious disease, excessive heat, drought, and flooding.

Between 2030 and 2050, climate change is predicted to result in an extra 250,000 fatalities per year from hunger, malaria, diarrhea, and heat stress.

The Next Century Foundation implores all concerned to mobilise the tough leadership and necessary financial and technical resources to give future generations at least a glimmer of hope that they will inherit a world as lovely and abundant as that of their forebears.

We have entered a new era in which the impact of our changing climate on governments has gained notoriety as many of those who are most geographically or demographically vulnerable now find that some aspects of climate change are an existential threat.
